Chapter Fifteen

Thankfully, the night passed with relative ease. The only real issue was when Seth relieved me and Tian from watch duty about three hours later and Milo tried to herd me into a corner to sleep alone with him until I nipped at him and promptly curled up in front of Morgan.

Tian padded over to me and seemed to fall asleep within moments with his head on my side. Of course, Milo gave in and came to lay on my other side, locking me between the two wolves, but that wasn’t enough for him. Thinking he was slicker than he actually was, he put his head on my side and slowly moved it towards Tian's, trying to nudge him off of me.

Done with the bullshit, I rose, waking Tian and startling Milo, and left them to settle the problem themselves. They could snuggle with each other for all I cared, as long as I got some rest. Once I resettled myself, sleep claimed me swiftly, my body utterly exhausted from the long trek and whirlwind of a day.

A wet nose nudged me awake in the morning. I blinked awake and looked around, noting that Morgan and Tian still slept where they’d been when I'd fallen asleep. Seth was beside me, and Milo was at the cave's entrance, keeping watch as the first rays of light began to peek through the tree line.

Nuzzling Seth's head, I gave him a quick lick and quietly rose. I needed a moment alone with Milo, and I trusted Seth to keep watch over the others while they slept.

Trotting over to Milo, I nipped at his tail and tossed my head out towards the forest, signaling that I wanted him to come with me. He was quick to follow and, as I looked back, I found Seth doing as I'd hoped he would, taking over guard duty.

We traveled far enough away that I felt the others wouldn't hear us, in case I needed to raise my voice—which I had a feeling I would. Scenting the air to make sure I couldn't pick up any traces of sulfur or other predators while I still had my heightened senses, I was satisfied we were alone.

Shifting back, I quickly crossed my arms across my chest and commanded his wolf, who was looking at me with his head cocked in confusion, "Shift. Now."

Within moments, Milo stood before me, and I almost laughed when I saw his cock was immediately hard, but I knew I needed to be stern with him right now. As I opened my mouth to speak, he rushed to say, "I really am trying."

Inhaling deeply, then exhaling, I used a gentle but firm tone as I rebutted, "Oh, really? Then why were you not-so-subtly trying to push Tian off of me last night?"

A flash of guilt crossed his face before he let his head hang forward for a moment. When he lifted his eyes to me once more, his jaw flexed as he strained. A growl
